This is a blog post that I made on making an impact globally blog that our whole class contributes to it is on our research on Seuss and the racist imagery in his books.
Heres my infographic on Seuss and his books:

What did you know about Dr. Seuss prior to our discussion?
I thought that he was an ok guy that cheated on his wife while she had cancer and probably had some form of post traumatic stress disorder.
How did you feel after you started learning about the imagery in his books?
I felt a little betrayed. This was the man that had written some of my favorite children’s books and whose books I had always begged for one more at story time.
What have you done since that convo? What actions have you taken?
I did a lot of thinking about whether Dr. Seuss is so important to me that I would continue to read his books to other children. Ultimately I decided that he was not that important to me and that his books should be read at people discretion with proper knowledge on the racist imagery in the books.
Have you had any conversations with family? friends?
I had a brief conversation at the dinner table with my parents, but nothings much beyond that.
How does this connect to the SDGs?
It connects to goal 16: peace, justice and strong institutions. The fact that six of Seuss books have been pulled from publication is justice and the publishing company in recognizing his racism is becoming a stronger institution.
What is your plan? What will you create? Show us a draft of your project.
My plan is to create an infographic that will supply people with the info to consider what Seuss work means to them and whether we should still read his books, especially to young children.
