In my sophomore year, I attend the HOBY conference, a three-day conference that took place from Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June 5th. The theme of this conference was leading from the inside out. So to stick with the theme the conference, as much as it was about leadership, was also about our personal well-being. We wrote letters of gratitude and broke down our personality traits to better understand our strengths.

Keynote: Lamarr Womble
As you can see we had a lot of speakers over the three days. My favorite was Lamarr Womble he was very genuine and he spoke to us on our level. Lamarr talked a lot about his relationship with his dad, how messed up it was and how he fixed it. Lamarr told us this story to remind us that our relationships are important to maintain and can make us stronger. Lamarr also emphasized progress over perfection as seen in the photo below.
At the beginning and the end of the conference, I had to take a short leadership quiz rating statements as they relate to me. My score definitely improved in some categories, and HOBY definitely prepared me to be a better teacher.
