The Makers Market

During the middle of November I was informed of an event happening at the school- the Maker Market. This market would take place on December 10th after school. I decided this would be great opportunity to fundraise for the GSA and begin to prepare for pride month. So I first began making pins.

Creating the pin designs was done with Adobe Spark, a free online design app. I created the following patterns with it.

Keep in mind that I also offered the opportunity at the market to request a specific flag or specific pronouns on a pin (with no extra commission cost).

To create the buttons I used a button maker, which looked like the image to the right. It was a 1.5 size button maker. The process by which this machine helps the user make buttons can be found here.

Heres what the ended up looking like:

Overall the pins turned out really well and sold great at the makers market. We actually ran out of she/her pins!

My next item that I made for the makers market was polymer clay earrings, the process for each one is different but overall I used the same basic tools. The tools I used were a small acrylic rolling pins, ball shaped molding tools, needle noes pliers, cutting pliers, X-acto knife and round nose pliers.

For all the earrings I either used a hook with a jump ring in order to create a dangly earring or a post and stud. In addition wire was used to create eyepins

Here is what a the earrings looked like at the end

The both looked like this on the day of the makers market:

Every purchase was packaged in a small brown paper bag and a GSA sticker

This is where this falls in my diploma:
