My prototype for this project was a presentation on Transgender people, it started out about twenty slides long with lots of text on each slide. Each slide included things that were maybe a little complicated for second grade kids, so that also changed after revisions.
I sent Barbara King, Annie King, and Jennifer Truong (who are all second grade teachers) in the interviews the following message with the slideshow attached over email:
Hi
My name is Julianna Thornburg and I’m in 9th grade.
I have recently started learning about Uganda and how it treats transgender people. My solution to the slander of transgender people in Uganda was to make a presentation for younger children (second grade and up). As this presentation is still in the prototype stage I would love for you to take a look over it and give me some feedback. Attached is the file, if you have any before Friday comments would be appreciated.
thank you for your time
Julianna Thornburg
After which I got a couple of responses. Mrs. King prominently responded that my presentation was too long and much too text heavy, in such a way that it would overwhelm second graders. Mrs. Troung suggested that I should share my presentation with the head of lower school, Mrs. Michelle Feiss, which I haven’t done yet and so have not received feedback from her.
Heres what the prototype looked like after revisions:
I wanted to add a photo of the female brain and the male brain but I couldn’t find any good photos. I mostly found comic that were derogatory the aforementioned genders.
I hope to next find a teacher that will allow me to present this presentation to their class of second grade students.
